Race Preview

Thank you all in advance for attending the 8th Annual San Rafael Twilight Relays this Saturday, March 8, 2008, starting at 4:15 pm.

We look forward to hosting your teams and providing a magical experience for your athletes.
We have a RECORD TURNOUT of schools this year!!!
Here are the final instructions and information regarding the San Rafael Twilight Relays.  The meet goes off rain or shine (lets hope for shine!!!).

TEAM CHECK-IN
When you arrive, please send a representative to pick up your team packet at the Booth on top of the bleachers.  If you have not already done so, please pay your team entry fee at this time.  Checks should be made out to San Rafael High School.  We will provide receipts.

RACE SEEDING
In the sprint races, the first heats are generally the "less swift" of the heats and the last 1 to 2 heats have the faster teams based on estimated times provided.  In the distance races, the speed is a bit more spread out, however, the top teams are all in the later heats.

RELAY RACE CHECK-IN
All teams must check in prior to their event by the canopy, located by the traditional start of the 100 meters.  Please have the anchor leg member ONLY check-in and the other team members wait in the check-in area.  The anchor leg member will wear the hip number on their LEFT hip for the automatic timing.  Team members will be escorted to their proper track position depending on the relay leg.  So, ALL TEAM MEMBERS must be present by the check-in area prior to race times.  We will have a few extra batons, but please feel free to use your own.  Please make sure spikes are no longer than π inch.  We will not check uniforms at this meet.

OTHER INFORMATION
There will be a concessions stand open with food and drinks.
Long sleeve t-shirts will be sold for $20.
Athletes and coaches get into the event for free; all others must pay the $5 entry fee for admittance.
Please help keep our facility clean by using available trash cans.

A, B, C, etc. TEAMS
Please make sure your athletes know what team they are (team A, team B, etc.) when the anchor person checks in.

CLEARING THE TRACK
We will clear the track a little before 4:15 pm to start the sprint medley relay races.  Athletes will be able to do strides along the curve by the check-in area when meet officials allow it (in between sprint races).

SPLITS OF RUNNERS FOR RESULTS
I will be reporting all results to www.dyestatcal.com after the race.  If you have some great splits from some of your athletes, please let us know up the booth so we can relay that information on in our results.

AWARDS
The top three overall marks (from all the heats) in each event will receive a medal.   Awards will be presented throughout the event once marks are compiled.  This year, Sam Skinner, one of the all-time MCAL 1600 and 3200 meter great runners, will be the awards presenter.  Saucony will also be on hand to provide some special t-shirts to top teams.

COACHES RACE
Just show up at the check in area and we will get you to the starting line.

HAVE FUN
This will be a great event.  Thank you so much in advance for your participation.  See you all UNDER THE LIGHTS!!!
